Frequently Asked Questions

When Does Your Season Start?2024-01-02T21:12:34+00:00
  • We hope to have berries ready for our public u-pick operation sometime in June and will likely run for as long as possible! We hope to grow into October.  Each year may look a little different because.. Wisconsin weather! Even though we grow in high tunnels they are only 3 seasons and not completely climate controlled. We have to wait until risk of frost has passed to plant because we can’t have our irrigation lines freeze! Plus, our plants won’t grow at those low nighttime temperatures. We typically plant at the end of April and have our first harvest in June. Our season will start to slow down late Oct/early November as light levels and temperatures decrease. Good things take time! Thanks for your patience.
Do I have to book an appointment to come pick?2024-01-02T21:24:22+00:00
  • Yes, please! Unlike other farms our appointment-based system allows our customers to have an exclusive experience with family and friends. You’ll be able to pick-your-own hydroponic strawberries in our massive 30,000 square foot high tunnel space. Just click the “Schedule an appointment” link on our home page!
Why don’t I see any available appointment times?2024-01-02T21:25:04+00:00
  • Available appointment days will be in green! Check back often! We are always adding new availability as berries ripen!! Red days on the calendar mean we are sold out of appointment slots. If the calendar is greyed out it means we are not currently accepting public u-pick appointments.
How is your strawberry season so long?2024-01-02T21:25:36+00:00
  • There are two main types of strawberry cultivars: June bearing and everbearing. We grow an everbearing cultivar called Albion. This means the strawberry plants will keep growing new berries as long as they stay healthy and growing conditions are good!
Can I bring someone with me during my appointment?2024-01-02T21:26:23+00:00
  • Yes! We don’t limit the party size during your appointment. You will only be charged for the quantity of produce picked— not per person.  Forewarning: You will likely want to pick your own buckets because it really is that easy.
How long does it take to pick?2024-01-02T21:26:53+00:00
  • Picking is so simple because our berries are grown at waist height! Typically, it takes someone 15-20 minutes to pick a gallon of berries. You may take your time and enjoy the farm 🙂 Our tunnel staff will be happy to chat with you and answer any questions.
Are you handicap accessible?2024-01-02T21:23:46+00:00
  • This may depend on your situation. For many instances, yes. Our tunnels have picking rows that are roughly 3 ft apart.  There is no bending over required to pick. The ground has a fabric surface that is semi-flat. Our parking area outside of the tunnels is gravel but you may park right next to the tunnel doors if needed! We have had many people of all ages and abilities enjoy their picking experience. We have hosted folks in walkers, some wheelchairs, and all ages (0-94!) If you have any specific questions, please call or email and our staff will do what we can to accommodate!
What is Hydroponics?2024-01-02T21:23:05+00:00
  • Each year we grow 20,000 strawberry plants hydroponically, which means they are grown without soil. The plants are grown in a media called substrate and are fed a custom blend of nutrients through an automated watering system using emitters.
